Pulsed Xenon Dosimeter

Prove your success every time you disinfect

The pulsed-Xenon UV dosimeter card. It’s an important part of your disinfection strategy,
and it provides definitive proof, every time, that you accomplished your disinfection goals.

These cards are designed for use with pulsing Xenon light sources producing broad-spectrum UV, and each card provides a visual indication of successful germicidal irradiation by revealing a check mark when exposed to 5 mJ/cm2 of broad-spectrum UV light.

Using a patented photochromic ink, the yellow center on the card changes color to indicate the intensity of the dose delivered from 15 to 25 mJ/cm2.

Use a single dosimeter card every time you disinfect, and it will provide positive proof of disinfection, as well as a great way to keep a record of all pulsed-Xenon disinfection activities.

Not a substitute for microbiological verification of disinfection. Designed in collaboration with intellego Technologies, manufactured in Sweden.

How to use Pulsed-Xenon UV Dosimeters

The UV dose indicators are designed to provide a visual indication of applied UV energy.

  1. Place the unexposed card(s) at desired locations in the area. Cards can be used in horizontal or vertical positions. Always make sure the color changing area faces towards the UV source.
  1. As the center yellow indicator is exposed to UV, it will gradually change colors based on exposure or UV dosage. For accurate results, record the exposure level immediately after treatment.
  1. If your results don’t match the target dosage shade exactly, for recording purposes use the lesser value.

Dosimeter reading for common pathogens

The following is a short list of some
common pathogens and the
dosimeter reading that would
indicate that energy exceeding a
lethal dose for that pathogen has
been delivered.

Pathogen Kill Rate Dose (mJ/cm2)
SARS-CoV-2 99.9187% 17
Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) 99.9998% 4
Clostridioides difficile (C. diff) 99.99% 126
Feline Calicivirus (Norovirus surrogate) 99.993% 24
Candida auris (C. auris) 99.96% 141
Escherichia coli (E. coli) 99.97% 12
Salmonella enterica (S. enterica) 99.97% 12

What is Broad-Spectrum UV?

PURO Lighting products, powered by Violet Defense® technology, use a powerful, broad broad-spectrum light, including germicidal UV-C, UV-B, and bactericidal UV-A to optimize their efficiency. UV-C is most traditionally referred to as germicidal UV with the ability to kill bacteria, viruses, mold, and fungi.

UV-A and UV-B light cause oxidation of proteins and lipids causing cell death. Broadband UV lamps have also been shown to inhibit photoreactivation, the process that can result in the self-repair of damaged microbes.
